Vintage Audio Repair Technician

 The Speaker Port is in need of a technician with proven, extensive experience and knowledge of vintage audio equipment. We service receivers, tuners, pre-amps, amplifiers, turntables, cassette, 8-Track and R2R decks, and various other types of audio equipment. We are unable to spare the time to teach someone all of the required skills to repair and restore these units. With that being said, the qualifications listed below are strongly preferred. We take pride in ensuring every product that comes into and leaves our shop is taken care of at the highest of standards. Pay is based on experience and will be discussed, as will a potential schedule. This position will be part-time, on-site at the shop.


Qualifications

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of vintage audio equipment
  • Knowledge of proper diagnostics, repair, and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Knowledge of electrical components and the functions of each
  • Repair and restoration experience
  • Soldering iron proficiency
  • Can work efficiently and independently
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to climb up and down stairs
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. possibly several times a day

Speaker/Subwoofer Repair Technician

 The Speaker Port is in need of a technician with proven, extensive experience and knowledge of speakers and subwoofers. We are unable to spare the time to teach someone all of the required skills to repair and restore these units. With that being said, the qualifications listed below are strongly preferred. We take pride in ensuring every product that comes into and leaves our shop is taken care of at the highest of standards. Pay is based on experience and will be discussed, as will a potential schedule. This position will be part-time, on-site at the shop.


Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of loudspeakers operation and design, including passive and active systems
  • Refoaming/reconing of woofers and diaphragm replacement
  • Upgrading wire attachment terminals
  • Grill fabric replacement
  • Rebuilding crossovers and L-pad cleaning
  • Cabinet cleaning and reconditioning (vinyl & hardwood veneers) 
  • Soldering iron proficiency
  • Can work efficiently and independently
  • High attention to detail
  • Able to climb up and down stairs
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. possibly several times a day
